Do you only teach the electric guitar?

Even though we are an “electric” guitar school we also teach and of course love the acoustic and bass guitar too! Acoustic and electric guitar skills are totally transferable so it comes down to the preference of the person learning and their music style.

What age should I register my child?

The guitar is an instrument and like all instruments they can feel funny and unnatural at times. Students need to be a reasonable size as the guitar not only requires the strength to hold but also the strength to push the strings down and strum or pick. 8 is a great age to look into playing guitar. We recommend the ukulele and also enrolling in the Jam Bus programme for younger students as this lays an ideal foundation for students to develop the motor skills needed before stepping up to a guitar. https://thejambus.co.nz/

Can I pay per lesson?

At UEGS we invoice lessons per school term regardless of whether they are private individual lessons or in school group lessons. To learn an instrument requires dedication and paying up front for a full term is a great way to keep motivated and ensure that you are in it for the long haul. We appreciate it!

Do you only teach school students?

A large majority of our students are in school kids but we also cater for adults of any age or stage so get in touch!
